Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that you have a life with its own commitments and that everyone has unexpected changes to their schedule. With more than 24 hours notice, I am happy to try to accommodate your schedule to the best of my ability.

However, if you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, your credit card will be billed for $175. I am happy to try to reschedule your session as quickly as possible

How will I know if my insurance will cover the cost of therapy?

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Is everything we talk about kept confidential?

Confidentiality is a basic client right. Therapist are legally and ethically bound to maintain confidentiality. Information about a client’s contact with me may not be disclosed to anyone else without the client’s written permission, except in situations where disclosure is required by law. These situations include times when . . .

  • The therapist believes that a client may be a danger to him/herself or others, and disclosure is considered necessary to prevent harm.

  • There is reasonable suspicion of actual or potential child neglect or abuse (emotional, physical, sexual) involving the client or others known by the client.

  • There is reasonable suspicion that a child has witnessed domestic violence.

  • There is reasonable suspicion of neglect or abuse of a dependent adult or elderly person.

  • A client is “gravely disabled” (i.e., unable to take care of basic needs such as feeding self, getting home safely).

What should I do before our first appointment?

Once you schedule an intake assessment with me, I’ll invite you to the client portal where you can fill out your intake forms. This includes having you complete a registration, payment authorization and insurance form. Then I’ll have you sign a notice of practice policy, informed consent for psychotherapy, consent for tele-health consultation and receive a good faith estimate (cost of services that are reasonable expected for your health care needs).
